Jesus knew. He knew before He came to earth what destiny he faced when He accepted His humanity. Jesus modeled courage among His enemies – courage when threatened, courage when intimidated, courage when facing death. In the agony of Gethsemane, He prayed not just once but three times for God to take “this cup” from Him. Yet, not as I will, but as you will. -Matthew 26:39.
Jesus was courageous because He relied on His Father to be with Him in whatever He faced. He trusted in the will of His Father. Our trusting may never be an easy road. He tells us point blank that we will have troubles. But just as He was a courageous overcomer, so can we be. I have told you these things, so that you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. -John 16:33. We can take heart! We are not alone!
